Our competition dance team is comprised of various levels; Tiny, Mini, Junior, Middle School/High School and Senior teams. Competition Team is by invite only for our Tiny and Mini teams. If your are new to iD and are interested in being considered for Tiny or Mini teams, please let us know and we will be happy to set up an evaluation. We have auditions in the summer for our junior and senior teams. Middle School/High School Team iD does not require auditions. Our competition dance program is set up to allow dancers the opportunity to train and compete at a higher level of dedication to the art of dance.
Tiny Team meets one time a week for 60 minutes. Their class includes ballet, tap and jazz. Tiny Team competes in the style of jazz, and will perform ballet and tap dances in the recital. Tiny Team dancers compete at three competitions.
Our Mini Team typically has a 90 minute jazz/tap combo class one night of the week, with a 30 minute ballet class. Mini Team competes in the categories of tap and jazz, and performs ballet in the recital. They may also be selected for lyrical and hip-hop classes for dance competition. Mini Team includes dancers ages 5-7. Mini Team dancers compete at four competitions, one being a competition and convention.
Our Junior Team attends classes two-three nights of the week. They are required to take ballet, tap and jazz. This may include separate technique classes based on what scheduling allows for. They may also be selected for lyrical and hip-hop classes for dance competition. Junior Team includes dancers ages 8-10. This group competes at four competitions, one being a competition and convention.
These classes are for dancers in middle and high school. Dancers will have the option of participating in our MS/HS competition team or can choose to participate recreationally. Dancers choosing to compete will attend three competitions.
Our Senior Team iD dancers are required to take ballet class, technique, combo, and team rehearsal class each week. If they compete in other styles such as tap, they are required to take classes in those disciplines as well. We have a variety of groups and levels within our senior team, including dancers ages 11-18. These groups compete at four to five dance competitions, with at least one being a competition and convention.
